This Privacy Policy describes how The Classifieds handles information used to operate the platform.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how The Classifieds collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the service. The Classifieds is a slower social platform for posting, browsing, and responding to local personal classifieds.
2. Information You Provide
We may collect information you provide directly, including your email address, authentication account information, profile details, profile photos, posts, messages, reports, blocks, and other content you choose to submit. For informational launch-email subscriptions, we collect your email address, your email consent and its date, any optional interest in beta testing, and available campaign information about how you reached the signup page. Submitting the launch signup form requests these emails; no separate email confirmation, app account, or age confirmation is required.
3. Profile and Public Content
Some information you add to your profile or classified posts may be visible to other users. This may include your display name, age, gender, city, state, profile image, post title, post description, category, and other details you choose to share.
4. Messages and Conversations
Messages and conversation records may be stored so the service can deliver private replies, maintain conversation history, support safety tools, and help operate the platform.
5. Safety, Reports, and Blocks
If you report, block, hide, or close a conversation, we may store related information needed to provide those features, protect users, enforce platform rules, review reported content, and maintain the integrity of the service.
6. Location and Technical Information
We may collect basic technical information such as browser type, device information, log data, and activity needed to maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the platform. Location-related information is limited to profile city/state or other coarse location information you provide or that is generated by normal service infrastructure such as IP-based logs. The app does not need precise device location to operate.
7. How We Use Information
We use information to create and manage accounts, display profiles and posts, deliver messages, operate safety features, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, improve the service, and communicate with users about account or platform matters. If you subscribe to launch emails, we use your subscription information to send the requested launch updates and early-access invitations. If you also express interest in testing, we may contact you about beta testing and feedback. Campaign information helps us understand which launch outreach is effective.
8. Service Providers
We may rely on third-party service providers for hosting, authentication, database storage, file storage, email delivery, analytics, and related infrastructure. These providers process information as needed to help operate The Classifieds.
9. Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, safety needs, fraud prevention, enforcement of our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of The Classifieds, users, or others.
10. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the service, provide account features, meet legal or safety needs, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and maintain platform integrity.
11. Account and Email Choices
You may update certain account and profile information through available account tools. You may initiate account deletion in the app or on the Delete Account page. To unsubscribe from launch updates, withdraw your interest in testing, or request deletion of your launch-list information, contact hello@theclassifieds.social; an app account is not required. Some information may be retained, limited, or anonymized when needed to honor an opt-out or for safety, legal, fraud-prevention, moderation, dispute-resolution, backup, or platform integrity reasons.
12. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no online service can guarantee complete security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
13. Age Eligibility and Informational Emails
The Classifieds app, beta, and social features are intended only for people who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly allow people under 18 to create accounts or use those features. Subscribing only to informational launch emails, including expressing interest in future beta testing, is separate from creating an account or participating in the beta. Email subscription does not confirm your age, create an account, or grant access; the 18+ eligibility requirement still applies before you join the beta or use the social features. Our website and email signup are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact hello@theclassifieds.social so we can remove it.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date above. Continued use of The Classifieds after changes means you accept the updated policy.
